The America’s Cup is one of the oldest competitions in the history of sport, with a trophy that’s 168 years old... Staggering! A producer friend of gassProductions needed a director/cameraman/editor to help shoot and edit multiple social media films for BMW in the lead up to the final weekend of the America’s Cup competition, a showdown between Team Oracle USA and Emirates Team New Zealand. The video content we created would be broadcast via BMW’s social media channels, both BMW and BMW Yachtsport. We’d also shoot lots of corporate b-roll for BMW’s archives and future video requirements.

Over the course of 5 days, we shot 3 videos in total and filmed a whole lot more B-Roll. Our biggest challenges were finding locations that could yield frames with no other cars in them. On an island 22 miles long this is rather difficult! We ended up shutting roads and asking special permission from the nature reserves! And dealing with the heat, humidity and unpredictable weather!
