In 2019 gassProductions collaborated with The Kn8t Agency to create a 12 part Youtube series for Haven Knox-Johnston. The 12 part series celebrates the 80th birthday of Sir Robin Knox Johnston with a series of short conversations with fellow sailor Dee Caffari. Since Sir Robin was turning 80, it was decided that each video should be an 80-second insight into the life and experiences of the first man to sail single-handed, non-stop around the planet. To create this content, gassProductions supplied a 6 person crew (1 Producer, 2 camera, 2 drone ops, 1 Sound Recordist). Filming took place on the 14th of February 2019 in the Solent near Gosport.
Logistically this was an extremely challenging shoot. Light, weather, tides and sea state were all mission-critical factors we had no control of. Fortunately, we have a great deal of experience filming at sea and so were able to mitigate these risks by composing a comprehensive filming schedule with a number of Plan B's, C's and D's. In the end, the shoot went without a hitch. Once filming was complete the films were edited in-house at gassProductions.
